Field of Lights!

Field of Lights!
Field of Lights!
As darkness falls and Uluru is thrown into silhouette, Field of Light illuminates.
As far as the eye can see gentle rhythms of color light up the desert.
This was our last evening in Yulara, after a long hot afternoon of our close up and personal discovery of the sights, sounds, and sacred sites around Uluru.

Uluru is a sacred site in Australia, and the surrounding area is protected as Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The Anangu people, who are the traditional owners of the land, are dedicated to preserving Uluru and the park.

The installation of these solar lights was supposed to be temporary – but it has become so popular that they’ve kept them going, and I’m so glad they did.
We were bussed to our viewing area where we were greeted with “nibbles” or horderves is you call them such – crackers, cheese, chips, salsa and hummus, fresh veggies and cold cuts – a feast for the hungry, and we were hungry!
Bubbly in fluted glasses, different juices and drinks were served and refilled as often as we needed.
Folding chairs brought out so we’d have a place to sit.
And then…when the lights were bright enough we were invited to take our own walkabout through the lights on guided pathways.

Dusk is darkening.

Field of Lights!
I stood amidst the lights and turned myself 360 to take it all in.

This is a huge thank you and a shout out to those who endeavored to refill my aqua string bucket after I used them all in the making of Huka Falls.
Hubster Dave was in charge of bringing the mail in and setting it aside for me, and let me tell you there was a PILE! LOL!
Yesterday was pretty much a wash-out.  My body clock is so upside down that I came home from the QPO at 11:30am and slept 5 hours.  I’m pretty much discombobulated….but by evening time I sat on the couch to open each and every one of the envelops – some from as far away as New Zealand, Australia, France, Germany.
You are all TREASURES!  You can see I put narrow strings in the bin on the left and the wider pieces on the right.  It’s safe to say, that you will be seeing your aquas pop up in my quilts for a long time to come.
THANK YOU ALL!
Field of Lights!
These made me smile so much!

Never shout out to the internet that you had just used the last piece of a print that is 40+ years old as someone will send you more.  In three colorways! LOL!

Seriously…I held these close to my heart while laughing uncontrollably at the same time with Hubster Dave giving me the “What in the world?!” look.

And this is climate shock.
Just to show you that yes, we still have snow on the ground.  And life gets back to normal as the propane truck comes to fill our tank.

Retreats start back up in less than a week and I am so excited.  The February Quiltvillians will be filling the halls and walls with creativity and fun and I am here for it.

When will I get time to actually sew?

Soon very soon!
