Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
I walked into Quiltville Inn on Saturday to find the Quilty Pleasures gals finishing up a yummy lunch – refueling themselves to they could get back to more pedal to the metal sewing!
It really was a quilty pleasure to have these ladies staying at the inn through the weekend.

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
Helen made the most of her baggies of pieces saved from the 1990s and finished the ornaments for her Christmas quilt.
Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
Helga’s houses are also coming together!
Cute cute!
They remind me of the Victorian bathing boxes seen along the shore in Melbourne.

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
The wind was super gusty so we did some photo taking inside the Quilting Quarters.  Beautiful projects, ladies!

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
That piano key border is just the ticket to make this quilt sing!

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
And the run to the quilt shop for “just the right aqua” for the inner border is also what this pickleball throw needed.

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
All of the jelly roll rail fence blocks are off the design wall and into this throw sized quilt top!

The time really did fly by way too fast, ladies!  We’ll see you back next March.

There is ALWAYS something needing fixing when you are dealing with a house that’s 141 years old.
In this case we were afraid it was going to be another repeat of what happened with the QPO door nextdoor – when the latch thing was stuck and couldn’t be moved.
And this is an OLD solid heavy door – with really old fittings.  Look at the size of that knob hole? How are we supposed to fix that?
Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
Knob off..now what?

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
Remove the door from the hinge side, that’s what.
Luckily these hinges were in better condition than the old door next door.

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
Removing the whole locking mechanism from the door.

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
Something has definitely slipped in here.

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!
We found the part that had slipped, figured out how everything needed to go to function, and then everything got a good dose of sewing machine oil to help things work just a little bit better.
I was holding my breath the whole time…please work! Please work! Please work!
And it did.  It worked even better than it did before so we are back to all systems go.
Or all systems, open, close, and lock as the case may be.

How to know there have been quilters in the house!
After everyone packed up and hit the road yesterday I started in on the laundry, and look at the quilt math I found on the pressing table paper.

Weekend Fun with Quilty Pleasures!

Who says quilting doesn’t take brains!
It’s MATH, baby –
For all of those times I hated math as a kid.  Who knew that we’d be using our 10th grade geometry skills for all of the angles, and other math to help us figure things out.
If only our match teachers could see us now!

Did you see what happened yesterday?

Quiltville Quote of the Day –

There’s a basket of clean laundry waiting to be folded on my bed.

I’ll get to it later – there’s quilting to be done!

Happy Monday, everyone!
