Two Ways Around It!

Two Ways Around It!
Two Ways Around It!
Things that happen in the late night hours at retreat –
If you recognize this  quilt in progress as our County Clare Leader & Ender challenge, you would be right.  To a point!
This is what happens when things are set aside for a while, and then we come back to them, forget which way units rotate and just dive in with full gusto!
This is how new variations are discovered – and all variations are RIGHT if that is the way you want to go.  It opens up other opportunities.
Two Ways Around It!
This one is arranged the way I did them!
So the green chains make a little circle when blocks are joined.
Now look at the top photo – the green chain units are rotated in the block, and this creates more diagonal chains – also very pleasing to the eye.
Both versions make wonderful quilts.  So in this case…I’d turn the “small” one, where the greens are rotated ot make circles into a table topper or something, and then keep going with the ones where the greens form chains because more blocks have been made that way.
It’s not worth picking out – just carry on and make something out of the “other” one. I love them both!
Two Ways Around It!
It rained all day yesterday.  And I mean ALL DAY.  Not hard rain, just misty and drippy and quite cool, so it was a good day to just stay in and sew.
We all ooohed and aaahhed at the lovely fabrics in this block

Kare fell in love with the fabrics and bought the kit because there wasn’t anything about it she would change.  It’s going to be gorgeous.

I love the bold African prints against the purple grunge.

And while the rain and mist continued outside, I was cozy in my little post office studio making more string blocks from recycled shirt parts.
Only about 30 left to go.
Not sure if sewing will happen today.  It’s retreat check-out day which means all the laundry and everything that happens with flipping the house to get it ready for the June Quiltvillians arriving tomorrow afternoon will happen today/tomorrow.
And yes….it’s still raining!
And since it is May 27th – guess what time it is?
