The Eyes Have It!

The Eyes Have It!
The Eyes Have It!
Life is crazy busy. Always.
I don’t think things ever slow down that much – we just kind of take to our days somewhat on auto pilot and while going down the to do list of daily things we forget to take a look around and appreciate the beauty that is around us.
I had a moment yesterday – I showed up for my eye appointment a little bit early while the office was still closed for lunch break –
I found that moment to just breathe and appreciate while waiting for them to come back.

The Eyes Have It!
The office is away from the fray – partly up one mountainside on the north side of the valley, and I could see across to the other side – the tops of the mountains hiding within low hanging clouds.
I always love pockets of fog and low clouds. Give me some Brigadoon any day!

The Eyes Have It!
In due time the front door was unlocked and I was ushered inside to the appointment I’d been waiting 7 months to get into.
This office also has low vision specialists and that is why it took so long for me to get in.  Small town, high specialties.  But it was worth it.
I have never had an office spend so much time with me and my MacTel2 condition.  They ran exams in different ways that other offices just didn’t.
And as we adjusted things on the view finder thing above, my left eye being way worse than my right, things finally clicked into place with the “which is better, one or two?” thing and all at once – I could read the chart clearly with my left eye.
I started to cry.  We had to stop and catch a moment and hand me a tissue and move on with the exam.
But that new adjustment to my prescription means that my left eye isn’t just along for the ride anymore, it could SEE

The Eyes Have It!
In the waiting area while my eyes dilated.
This was a pleasant surprise!  I couldn’t read my phone anymore due to the dilating drops, but there are beautiful quilts on the walls!
I told you this office was worth the 7 month’s wait!
The rest of my appointment went fine. Though my left eye at 20/70 qualifies for “low vision” specialist attention, the right one is holding at 20/50 and I should be okay to see the ‘normal” optometrist as long as that holds.
We upped my bifocal to a +3 to increase my ability to see clearly when hand stitching/reading.
I’ll be taking a trip to Costco on Monday to order up new glasses. I’m SO EXCITED!
The Eyes Have It!
And this happened –
The fabric covered old heated cat condo has been retired – after a few years and our humidity and much cat clawing the old canvas was shredded and had mildew..it was time for a new cat condo!
This one is wood.  We are going to have Jeff come put a polyurethane coat on it so we can wipe it down.
Here the floor isn’t in yet, and it also comes with an adjustable heated pad for winter warmth. The walls are also insulated.
I like that it has a  second doorway to get to the heated room that will help with wind, etc.
The Eyes Have It!
Now if they will only explore enough to go inside and figure it out.
The Eyes Have It!
With all of that dilating…it took a while for me to be able to see clearly, but I was able to manage a few hexies last evening, making some more progress on this motif.
The TaDa Quilter are in the house – most of them had arrived before I left to come home for dinner and I’m looking forward to seeing them all this morning.
And this is where things are with me right now.
The eye appointment was just the best ever and I can’t wait for new glasses and to be able to SEE!
(Sometimes little wins are big wins, and I appreciate this one.)

Quiltville Quote of the Day –
Somehow I think neither of these are bound to happen!

But if I did win the lottery, there’s a high possibility the first line would be definitely NOT be happening on a large scale!

Have a terrific Thursday, everyone!
