The Day In Between!

The Day In Between!
The Day In Between!
We hit 73 f yesterday. WOW!
And I wish it would stay there, but it looks like we are headed back to the low 50s f over the next several days and I don’t know when we’ll see the likes o 70s again…I know it’s coming, and it’s okay that spring comes slowly before dumping us right into summer –
Time was short yesterday. Housekeeper Susan and I were doing all of the needful things to get the house ready for Irene’s Sewciologists to start unloading at 4pm.
Still – I NEEDED (yes, NEEDED) to get out for a walk a nd a leg stretch.  But what to do without having to drive somewhere to do it?
I headed across the street, and down the road just a bit to take a little curved dirt road that somewhat follows the highway.
It’s a short road, with really only 2 derelict houses on it, and this little private drive that goes up alongside this hill of growing Christmas trees.
I doubt the little road is a half-mile at most.  But if I walked up and back twice – that would at least get me some walking in.
The gentle breeze was lovely.  The sky was streaked with the faintest of clouds. And two up and backs are better than none.
The Day In Between!
Behind the inn…the cows have found their way back!
And it wasn’t long after this photo that:

Quilters arriving with Tula supervising!
It was nice enough out that we pulled the grill out from around the corner where it is stored and the plan last night was to grill up a bunch of burgers with all of the fixings for everyone to enjoy after their long journeys.
The furthest anyone traveled to get here? Chrissy came from the Netherlands via her friend Marnie. So exciting!
This is Irene from Cotton To Quilts’ retreat and she cooks all the lunches and dinners fo folks can keep on quilting on.  She really does a wonderful job.
The Day In Between!
Flash has also been hanging around more –
The dewormer is working. His hurt foot (Not sure what he did but he is limping with his left front paw) seems to be improving.  He still won’t let you get close and is always on guard to scamper away if you make a move, but at least he is eating and maybe – hopefully- gaining some weight.

The Day In Between!
Back at home – the porch is DONE!!
With Hubster Dave’s arm in a sling, it’s been up to Son Jeff to finish and finish he did. At least as far as we can go for now.
Staining will happen when the boards have dried out more and cured.  But I am so happy with this.
Now I need to find some patio furniture to go around our deck firepit.
We are not switching out the stair railings just yet.  The consensus is that they work just fine so leave them as is for now.
The Day In Between!
How Dave is keeping himself from going stir-crazy!
We set up a puzzle board made from foam insulation board so we can move it from the dining area table if need be.
The Day In Between!
Lots of little critters to put together.

The Day In Between!

And this is still going on for me – little by little.
The Day In Between!

I received three wonderful baggies of strips, strings and cut off triangles from my friend in Texas and I jumped right in to add some of her fabrics not only into the log cabin blocks –
The Day In Between!
I am also sewing her cut off triangles right into the sawtooth sashing strips I am sewing for this project as well.
I’m kind of obsessed with these. There is something about using up every last piece that I can. I love seeing the variety and how the colors play together against the neutrals.
It truly is my happy place, even if it is slow going.

Zoey, overlooking her domain this morning.

Zoey Jo’s gotcha day was March 12th.  She’s been with us for 5 years.  She is now 6.  How does the time fly so quickly?

Today I’ll be hanging with the Sewciologists. I’ll get some more sewing done after deskwork and mail order is taken care of.

How about you?

And don’t forget about this:

The Day In Between!
Did you catch this on that  post?
My friend Bruce Leonard’s newest Hadley Carroll novel Quilt City: Safety Second is joining the line up of other fun quilty mystery titles, continuing the story of Hadley’s adventures in Paducah Kentucky.
I’ll be giving away 3 copies of Quilt City: Safety Second so head to that post and get your entry in.

The Day In Between!
My Waterford PDF pattern is now available in the Quiltville Store with an automatic 25% introductory discount good through 3/31/25.
It was inspired by a tile floor I photographed on my last trip to Ireland, when we took our Craftours group to the Waterford Crystal showroom in Waterford.
Waterford measures 80” X 80”, but is easily made smaller or larger just by changing the number of blocks.
And yes, there is a Gift-Away!
The Day In Between!
I’ll be drawing for two winners who will each receive a Waterford PDF pattern from me and a Notable Neutrals fabric roll from our friends at  Cotton to Quilts
We’ll draw for those winners on 3/29/25. Whew!

Quiltville Quote of the Day –

Don’t fear the mistakes, they keep us growing!

Grand Illusion was our Quiltville mystery several years back.

This one was shared by a student during a Michigan workshop.
Have a terrific Thursday, everyone!
