Snow, Glorious Snow!

Hi guys! I’m home!

And no, this was not my view last evening – but it WAS the view this morning as the sun came up over the ridge and let me know that blue sky and sunshine does happen!

We arrived in New York on Sunday afternoon.

By the time we went through customs and gathered our luggage, waving good bye to folks who had become family over the past 10 days…wandering off to catch our next flights, or an Uber, or in my case – taking the air train to where I would jump into a hotel shuttle, it was nearly 4:30pm.

By the time I’d checked into my hotel, made it up to my room and unloaded my stuff, it was close to 5:30pm.

My body said it was 1:30am!

I had already made plans to turn off notifications on my phone after letting family know I was back and safe. I set my alarm for 3am so I could get up, shower, dress, repack and make it downstairs in time to catch the 3:45am shuttle back to JFK for my 6am flight.

Let’s just say by the time my feet hit Tri Cities, TN airport and we made our way back to Mouth of Wilson I was exhausted.

And here’s a bit of what we were driving through:

There was more snow in Virginia than we saw the whole time we were in Germany and Austria!

They’ve had quite a week with our winter weather!

These photos were taken by Tracy who even took on the job of cat cafe manager while I was gone. She kept the kitties fed, petted and watered. Thank you, Tracy!

So much snow had fallen from the time Dave left home to come get me at the airport!

We almost didn’t make it – even in his 4wd pickup with chains!

It’s at least 6”. And it was still coming down.

At this point the Subaru is parked down at the bottom and the pickup is at the top and we’ve got the RZR doing its thing.

This morning before the sun rose –

It’s a winter wonderland and I love it, but I hope it is just visiting and not sticking around. HA!
The December Quiltvillians are on their way home.
I’ve got my long arm tech Patty coming this week – and we need this stuff at least off the roads so she can come and give my long arm a spa day and then help me trouble shoot what is going on with my Intelliquilter. She’ll be staying cozy at the retreat.
And the best news of all to catch up those who haven’t followed along for my Germany/Australia Craftours adventure –
Son Jason’s pathology came back while I was on tour. BENIGN! His tumor is benign! That’s all I wanted for Christmas, but I’ll get a bit more.
He is flying on a Christmas Eve red=eye from Portland and we will pick him up Christmas morning. He’ll be here for 2 weeks. Best Christmas Ever.
And….he has been cleared to go back to work. There’s a follow up MRI scheduled for the end of January, but for now we are through all of the hurdles we began facing mid-October.
I want to thank everyone for their patience with any typos or not-enough-information given in Lupine & Laugher mystery parts leading to questions.
I wrote all of the parts before Jason had his surgery. It’s been a very stressful time for all of our family.
I know there is a question on which way do we press triangles from part 3. I honestly don’t remember. I need to go FEEL those seams today on the actual quilt (which I couldn’t do in Germany), and tomorrow I will clarify both in tomorrow’s post and on the part 3 post which way those 2 other sizes of triangles were pressed.
Usually I am able to catch typos or omissions or add more clarifications rather rapidly, but I was out of the country. So thank you for your patience. I still beg for your patience and understanding.
