Quilting Up String Rings!
And yes we have a name – because nothing else sat as right with me as String Rings did.
It is what it is.
Even if they are more octagon shaped than completely round, you can’t help but see the rings when you look at the whole quilt, spread out for all to see.
I loaded it, chose a pattern, and got her quilted! The quilting started after dropping Hazel off for her spay appointment.
Hurry hurry, quilt all day, try to get it done before 4pm when it was time to take the over-the-porch-rail photos and wait for Hubster Dave to come get me so we could go together and run some errands while at it.
The baby pink thread worked wonderfully – not shouting out as too light against the darks, or too dark against the lights. Pink is a wonderful “blend in” color – keep this in mind for your future scrappy projects!
I chose Calliope by Patricia E. Ritter for the pantograph, keeping it scaped fairly large as I didn’t want it overly quilted.
That left yesterday to remove it from the machine, trim it up and prepare to get the binding on.
Love how this back turned out!
And while all of this trimming was going on? Full Belly Up after her exhausting day. Such a sweet girl!
Yep! I love it! Not too much quilting, just right!
Straight sides and square corners ready to put the binding on.
Binding at the ready.
I have had this print in the stash for eons. This is a large quilt so I needed enough yardage to get the job done and I think it will look great.
Yesterday, however was for prepping the inn for the next incoming group. Loads of laundry were washed and dried leaving beds to be made and towel baskets folded and placed this morning.
Binding will wait until all is ready.
I did manage some of this while waiting for blankets to finish drying. See that sunshine?
It was LOVELY to just sit for w few minutes on a porch rocker and appreciate all that has come to pass in the past few months.
I don’t know if I mentioned this, but Jason had his 90 days post-craniotomy MRI and then a visit with his neurosurgeon who told him “All is well, come back in a year.”
I felt like I could finally exhale.
Like I needed to exhale.
So I sat on the porch for about 20 minutes instead of running off to do something else that needed doing, that I could have been doing while waiting for the dryer to finish.
I needed to just be still, feel the sunshine. And exhale.
