The squirrels have been running full force lately.
Especially in my studio.
There are so many things I SHOULD be doing – Yesterday was wide open for getting the house ready for the incoming July Quiltvillians – Beds had to still be made, towel baskets had to be filled.
But what did I go and do?
I opened the cabinet at my sewing machine to grab ONE thing only to rediscover a basket stuffed full of leftover Old Town pieces and parts, completely forgotten.
So what’s a girl to do but give in?? Click to Play:
It didn’t take long. And I quickly saw that this was going to be too big for a throw pillow…so small table topper became the goal.
As Old Town was based on our Poland Adventures, I went with roosters for the outer border fabric. Roosters are a big thing in Polish traditional art and handcrafts.
I finished putting on the last border just before cars started to roll up the drive.
I may trim down that outer border a bit – it seems pretty wide, but remember that part of it will be covered by binding so…not sure yet.
A lovely friend had gifted me some Polish themed floral fabric I think will be perfect for the backing –
It even has roosters! So this is a win.
Roosters on the front, roosters on the back!
I have a low empire coffee table in the Hen Den and I think this would look perfect in there, with the chicken theme.
When will it get quilted? Not sure. Maybe this weekend, maybe later. But I made it up to this point in one day thanks to all of the leftover found again parts.
And oh yeah – there are still a lot of four patches and some leftover wider border units. I know I can always use them in another project so I have removed them from the basket, they are now in Ziploc bags and stored away for future re-finding.
Oh, fer cuteness sake!
On Sunday a group of the Pieceful Hearts gals took my park pass and went up to Grayson Highlands in search of ponies. They saw 8! Including mamas with new babies.
I love this one with the tongue sticking out. LOL!
They also left me this adorable apron, discovered hanging in the kitchen, made out of Kala’s Quiltville Inn Fabric from Spoonflower. I love it!
Close up of the bib –
And a pocket!
I was even sent a photo of the maker as model!
Okay – this is adorable –
Patty also made this adorable cover for her featherweight case using the Quiltville Inn Fabric.
I asked her to let me know when Spoonflower is hosting sales so I could pass that information on to you.
Turns out there is a sale on right now!
If you click the “This week up to 25% off everything” at the top of the Quiltville Inn Fabric page, a drop down menu pops up like this.
When you click the paragraph of highlighted text, a spinning wheel appears and you can spin it for your discount.
Every little bit saved helps you – and your purchase keeps Kala designing.
Due to popular request she is going to design some “non Quiltville branded” sewing notions fabric, and also some “Quiltville” fabric that says QUILTVILLE without the Inn.
Stay tuned and I’ll share what she’s made available to us when it’s ready!
Tula on her lawn mower throne! LOL!
Monday night we were able to have our FIRST fire pit of the year, and I was so excited I forgot to take group photos.
It has been so wet or windy since Memorial Day that we just haven’t been able to do it.
It was sure nice to wind down the retreat surrounded by fire flies and the occasional bellowing of cows in the distance.
Yesterday’s Abbeygate release was a hit! I’m so thrilled to hear that so many of you have been setting your scraps aside with this quilt in mind and I can’t wait to see what you do with this one.
