Mach Family Memories!

Mach Family Memories!
Mach Family Memories!
This is my sweet mama on the side porch at Quiltville Inn.
As I’m going through these photos – I’m wishing I had done more photo taking.  Perhaps with EVERYONE on the porch.
But this of mama solo is pretty precious too.
It’s her first visit to Virginia, and I was so happy to be able to walk her through each room and show her how the things she has made for me in the past are here for everyone to enjoy.
“You kept all of these things?”  Of course I did!

With so many history buffs in the family – especially Uncles Steve & Tony who are interested in Civil War sites, this was a great place to come as they have a little theater and movies showing how the saltworks at Saltville were protected by the South and desired by the North.
There was no preserving of food without salt.  If the North gained control, the southern army couldn’t preserve meat or leather for the many things they needed leather for.
It was a great place to come.
Feeding such a crowd (Most of the time there were 7 of us) we opted for picnics in parks and outdoor spaces.
This entailed setting out all of the sandwich fixings and having everyone make their own, marking their initials on the outside of the baggie with a sharpie.
Added to that there were chopped veggies and dip, fruit, chips, cookies, pickles and other snacks to enhance our al fresco dining experience.
Why is it that food tastes so much better outside?  It was a great way to enjoy good food, the outdoors and each other.

Mount Jefferson Overlook
The long range views were enjoyed by everyone – while my mom lives in the Mountains about an hour’s drive out of Boise, Idaho, these Blue Ridge Mountain views are different than where she lives.
For my flat-lander family in Minnesota and Florida, the mountain views were captivating, and I enjoyed experiencing it all through their eyes.

Gazing at the view beyond.

Much family resemblance here?

Wouldn’t this make a great Christmas Card?

We celebrated Uncle Tony’s 70th birthday on Friday Night – Nothing like a home baked birthday cake in a Pyrex dish – family style!

Family Chicken Foot Dominoes!
We moved the sewing tables in the Quilting Quarters to  accommodate the many of us playing.
These were the best of times I will always remember!

Back to reality!
While laundry was running yesterday I was working on something mysterious between the loads!
Can you guess what this is?  What is coming down the pike in rapid fashion?
Less than 6 weeks now –
And after I thought I was being so productive, I had found I had done half of the units WRONG.  It figures.
I’ve been running on love and adrenaline for the past couple of weeks – I’ll get as far on it today as I can and then put it all away before Susan’s Quilters arrive today from Indiana for retreat.
Are you getting excited about this year’s mystery? I hope so!

And of course you saw that this week was the pattern release for Ditch Lilies!
WOW!  Just WOW!  I am so thrilled that you are liking this quilt!
Mach Family Memories!
I’ve given you a few teasers on this quilt – you’ve watched me work on Ditch Lilies as it came to be, and even helped me decide on the name (Which I love!) and now it is available in PDF pattern form for you to make too.

Thinking back to when I was making these blocks and not sure how to set them. Mach Family Memories!
I’m so happy they became what they did!

If you love bear paw units, blocks that chain, and log cabin blocks – this is the quilt for you!

And yes, I know the gift-away sign up was a bit different.  My regular way of using a 3rd party app to collect names and email addresses was not working. That site must have been having issues.
So on the gift-away post you’ll find a google docs form.  Just put in your name and email address.  The only thing it doesn’t do is tally the total number of entries we’ve had so that you can see – but I can on a spreadsheet.
Please only enter once.
