Lunch With The Mississippi Girls!

Lunch With The Mississippi Girls!
Lunch With The Mississippi Girls!
Where is the forecasted rain that is SUPPOSED to be falling and cooling us off?
It keeps moving further out.
Or it’s falling in surrounding areas, but not here – because the mountains make their own weather patterns.
And while we are talking weather patterns, did you hear about the falling meteor pieces in Columbia, South Carolina yesterday??
I did not have that on my bingo card…..oops.  Another squirrel.

I also did not have falling clocks on my bingo card….but being called an “Accident Magnet” from the time I was young….(Forget the accident prone, I just draw this stuff to me like a magnet?) there was a bit of an episode after lunch.
There is a round wooden rooster clock above the kitchen door, and the battery was not doing what batteries should even though I recently replaced it, so I was lifting the clock down to see what was what.
I could reach the clock with up-stretched arms to remove it from the nail holding it, but as clocks are round and I didn’t have a good hold on it it rolled out of my hands and fell…and what did I do?
I stuck out my foot to break its fall so it wouldn’t hit the ground and break.
It instead hit the protuberance of my “ankle knob.”  My right lateral malleolus if you must know the correct term, and WHACK!  That area doesn’t have a lot of meat on it and man…ouch!  That smarts!

Icing helps a little – but not a lot.

And since I was feet up anyway, I finished stitching down the hanging sleeve on the back of my Open Window quilt.

And I stitched down the label – which will be signed. At some point.

It’s done!

I think Open Window will release as a PDF pattern in September.  So stay tuned on this one….and go ahead and get your strings ready if they aren’t already!
I used strips anywhere from 1” up to 2”, but there are very few 2” strips in here.  They are everywhere in between.
Oh, and before all of this happened…I did take photos inside the sewing room while everyone was out on the porch having lunch…

Could it be that fall is closer than we think and right around the corner?  Here’s some cute cute cute Punkin Patch blocks from my book String Frenzy!

As for me?  Before the clock debacle I spent some time pressing and cutting down the backing margins from my last couple of quilt finishes.

I’ve now got 1 1/2”, 2” and 2 1/2” strips to file away in these colors for future scrap quilts.
Those backing margins really mount up if we allow them to.
While they were once backings, now the remnants will be featured on the fronts of future quilts.
So.  I’m not moving very quickly this morning.  The ankle is stiff, sore, and doesn’t want to flex so I’m back to icing and hobbling a bit to get where I need to go.
I’m so mad at myself!  The clock is WOOD.  It hit me hard.  It’s going to take a bit to get through this, so no dirt road hikes will be happening.  And if the rain would just come I would feel better about having to sit things out.
Does anyone else consider themselves to be an accident magnet like I am?
