I’m Calling It Sunnyside!

I'm Calling It Sunnyside!
I'm Calling It Sunnyside!

I spent the weekend quilting away – just like you knew I would.
I’m not sure why the push to get this done and dusted and the binding put on felt like such a “Must Do” but all I can think is that we can only take care of the things that are within our own grasp at the moment, and I grasped on to this.
I could make a difference with this.  At least to these random scraps I could!
So that’s what I did.
And I thought I had a brilliant idea for coming up with a name –
After all, with our mysteries we are a fan of paint chips, no?
I'm Calling It Sunnyside!
Hubster needed to stop at Lowes and so I wandered back over to the paint chip area thinking that I MIGHT find a creative inspiration for a name on one of these yellow toned little cards.
There were shades named:
Pollen Powder (Achhoooo!??)
Banana Cream.  (I really have an aversion to naming quilts after food. I just don’t like to.)
Optimistic Yellow
Rayo Del Sol (Good name for a Mexican Restaurant?)
Golden Plumeria
Butter Up (LOL!)
And my favorite of all:
Peach Tickle.  Hahahahaha!
Let’s just say that the paint chip as a name idea was a no-go.
I'm Calling It Sunnyside!
So I gave that idea up and continued to quilt.

I chose a soft yellow thread (Maybe we can call IT Butter Up?) and an edge-to-edge design called Random Clams by Jessica Schick  for the quilting.
Best news of all – NO BROKEN NEEDLES (I worried about that with all of the seams front and back) and I had no quilting machine problems. Whew!

Love it!!

I'm Calling It Sunnyside!

This did just what I hoped it would do.

I'm Calling It Sunnyside!

The back looks great too!

And look Ma – no chopped off blocks – but it got close at the bottom!

I'm Calling It Sunnyside!

The quilting looks great on the back too.

I’m binding with a yellow on yellow stripe – I had a piece just big enough in the yardage stash.

So last evening I was feet up with thimble on and started stitching it down.

First mitered corner!  Looking good!

And if you once again read the title of this post, I did come up with a name.
I’m calling it Sunnyside.
Kind of like Sunny Side Up.
Or on the Sunny Side of the Street.
Sunnyside it is, because that’s what this quilt looks and feels like to me with that wonderful yellow.
On the Tula side of things.  She’s not doing that much better, I’m afraid.  I need to call the vet today.
I leave tomorrow for Morocco, so Hubster Dave will be taking her in to be seen this week.
He will be administering meds and taking care of her while I’m gone.

I did catch this zoomed in photo of Flash after putting his breakfast down.
Still living by the 6 feet away rule, and always on alert for movements that are too close, too fast – and he bolts.  It is what it is.
And I can’t wait for non-freezing temps so I can clean off the mud frozen to the porch floor.
And since it is Monday – we’ve got a bit of Gift-Awaying to do!

Start where you are. Do what you can. Use what you have. Take baby steps where needed.

Time is precious. Make an effort to make even the smallest of differences in making this world a better place for everyone to live.

Lots of thoughts on this Martin Luther King holiday.
Find something to be grateful for today –
