I got to spend some precious weekend time with this guy!
It’s easy to see that Casden is not a “little boy” anymore. He turns 9 this month! How can that be?
And at nearly nine he is busily engaged from baseball to soccer to basketball and even karate.
Time to come up to Bo-Nana’s house? Not that often.
But Saturday was the day and being the trooper that he is, he jumped right into my van with a group of quilter ladies on retreat at Quiltville Inn to go see some ponies for himself.
Water bottle? Check!
Baggie of snacks just in case he gets hungry? check! Let’s go!
You all know I take photos of brides and grooms wherever I find them – and this time it was at our overlook! Best wishes to you both!
They got some action shots of a popped open and exploding champagne bottle, and I”m sure the photos turned out wonderful. It was a gorgeous day.

At the Appalachian Trail!
There were so many ponies out and about – and Casden’s thoughts? “Nana – I thought you said they were SMALL!!”
This grey beast walked right over and past us, and I could see where Casden was coming from – at his height ponies ARE big.
But it was a wonderful day to be out amongst them as we hiked the trail.
And as 8 nearly 9 year olds are prone to do – it was – “Take my photo here, Nana. Send it to my mom!”
We are doing it!
And I’m so happy we did it together, buddy.
Another Casden attempt – this one a bit wonky. LOL!
We were told that further around the corner they had penned two mamas and newborns due to threat of coyotes who had been attacking newborns in the area.
So precious to see them nursing..
This one was one day old. So cute!
I don’t think Casden (or the quilters) will forget this day!
And neither will I!
It was a marvelous day!
Made better by being offered the licking of the brownie batter bowl once we had returned to the restreat.
Followed by some fun on the porch swing pushed by Jeff –
Out for the count on the way home.
Meanwhile at retreat – a Ghost quilt is coming together!

And myb Abundance log cabin quilt has borders…here i am doing the victory lap of stay stitching around the outside edge. (Yes, with the top face down so I can watch and keep those seam allowances from flipping the wrong way.
