Bring Out The WIPs!

Bring Out The WIPs!
Bring Out The WIPs!
Yesterday was for welcoming folks that had arrived after I had already headed home.
The Quiltvillians groups are members of my Quiltville’s Open Studio group on Facebook with most not knowing each other in person until they arrive at retreat for some real sewing time – in person, together!
We are now at over 146,000 members world-wide, so I’m grateful to our retreat coordinators who do all of the organizing and managing of each Quiltvillian group to make it a fun time for everyone!
I was thrilled yesterday morning to meet one of our new first-timers in the August Quiltvillians, bringing her bound-to-be-finished Grassy Creek project!
We are hoping for an over-the-rail shot by the time retreat week is over.
There are projects new, old, and almost finished coming out to play in this group!

This one resembles our Four Patch Fun Leader & Ender challenge a bit – it’s black and whites with sold colored inserts.

Rebecca pulled these already kitted up blocks from a class she took years ago and is eager to pull this old UFO forward and finish it.
I know it’s hard to get rededicated to a project you’ve pushed back for years, but once you can find the drive to finish it – it will be wonderful!
And sewing while on retreat can really help find that motivation when you are surrounded by others cheering you on.

This beautiful Old Town is only needing its borders!
Another WIP nearly in the finished column!

Across the room another Old Town is receiving some flying geese!

Something pumpkin-spice-colored is just beginning here!
And these photos were taken yesterday morning, after folks just arriving the evening before.  They are determined!

Love these turtles!
I can’t wait to see what this becomes.

There is some fun with wild stripes happening here!
Have you made blocks like this?

Little Blue Birds are getting sashings here. So cute!

Meanwhile, next door at the QPO –
I’ve discovered a hitch hiker!!
Sometimes you’ve just got to laugh.  How did that guy get caught underneath?
No, I didn’t seam rip.  The paper is already too fragile.  I simply clipped the hitch hiking fabric close to the seam line and left part of it there in the seam – It wasn’t worth saving that little piece!

But I sure love how that little piece of Laurel Burch made this little block sparkle.

All in an afternoon’s work!
(With many more to come.)

Mary has shared her Waterford finish to our Open Studio group, where several quilters helped her find some units that were turned the wrong way.
Well done, Mary! She has added borders to increase the size and it will be gifted to her friend.

I love seeing these finishes!

Last evening’s round of hexie sewing –
I have finished the needed row end fill in sections and am happy to go back to working with colored fabrics, starting the motifs for the next diagonal row.
Yesterday’s to do list included getting pattern info out to Craftours for my upcoming trip to Germany, Switzerland and France!
In that email exchange I was in search of info for how many kits I need to make, and they let me know what Bavaria/Austria for Christmas Markets after Thanksgiving is now full.  I’m so excited!

There are still some spaces available in our Morocco trip coming up in January.  Such a great time of year to go somewhere warm when the weather is just ick at home!
I’m looking forward to spending my birthday while we are in Morocco as well!
I’d love to have you join me.  Yes – hubbies, friends, adult children are welcome and they don’t have to be quilters – just like hanging out with quilters!
Because – we are pretty cool after all!
These last few spots will go quickly, so don’t wait!

Quiltville Quote of the Day –
At this point it seems even my teaspoon has holes in it!

This is not a complaint –

It’s an abundance of fun and possibilities!
Happy Friday, Happy August, everyone!
