Bitter Bees Through The Weekend –

Bitter Bees Through The Weekend -
This post is brought to you by the color YELLOW!
And the Hearts of Hope quilt from my Solidarity pattern hanging in the front foyer is happy to coordinate with the occasion!
What is going on here in the foyer?  I needed a place to set up a demo table so we could gather around on our continuing Spanish Rose workshop.  Up on deck? Half-square triangles and four-patch hints, helps and tricks!

The Bitter Bees brought their own Do-Bee list of retreat rules.  I love this!

Friday’s string blocks were being joined by our little half-square triangles (made with my Essential Triangle Tool) and precision four-patches with neatly spun seams on the back so seams will nest no matter how we turn them.

Of course, the hand applique is going to take a bit longer, but the borders will be ready for the centers when they are done!
Bitter Bees Through The Weekend -
Yes! things are coming along!

Bitter Bees Through The Weekend -
I love seeing folks get excited about the possibilities that arise with string piecing.

Bitter Bees Through The Weekend -
This whole process has been marvelous – all through the weekend!
Bitter Bees Through The Weekend -
Such a fun group of ladies!

And if it looks like everyone is quietly working away – think again!  The laughter could raise the roof!

Tula keeping an eye on everything, basking in Saturday afternoon sun.

More yellow!
Four of us got out on Saturday for  a walk up Bear Branch road to see how spring was springing there.
And just as I had hoped – the wild forsythia bushes that frame this little old house were in full yullow mode as well.

From another angle –
How long have these hedges been growing here?
I love them so much. the first sure sign of spring in these parts.

So many trees are down –
Not sure if this is from Hurricane Helene in September, or a result of our recent ice storms.

At least the old cabin is still standing!

I was also excited to have my friend Elaine (Also known as Messygoat on Instagram) stop by on her way home to Alabama from a class reunion at Duke in North Carolina.
It was a short visit, but so great to show her around, introduce her to everyone, and give her a real life hug.
As always the weekend passed far too quickly, and this morning the Bitter Bees are packing up and making their way back home to Ohio.
You know what my day will be filled with – 12 loads of laundry and all of the other things.
But in between flipping loads I’ll be working on this:

Something is coming together and I can’t wait to share it with you!

It was inspired by a tile floor I photographed on my last trip to Ireland, when we took our Craftours group to the Waterford Crystal showroom in Waterford.
Waterford measures 80” X 80”, but is easily made smaller or larger just by changing the number of blocks.

Quiltville Quote of the Day –

If you see me grimace, it’s me just biting my tongue.

Also – I woke up to a thunderstorm this morning and I’m hoping some of this rain is reaching Western North Carolina and down into South Carolina to help drown out those forest fires that have been raging through the weekend.

Have a marvelous Monday, everyone!
