A Week with the Bonniacs!
Until they weren’t!
Sis=in-law Alicia, Brother Scott, and me.
There’s a bit of a crazy story – My first flight left for Atlanta a bit late due to thunderstorms.
Then there was a maintenance issue –
I told myself not to worry as I had plenty of layover time in Atlanta.
A 45 minute flight took 90 minutes because they decided to go AROUND the storm and come into the airport at the opposite end.
I know they did what they had to do to keep us safe…but this was…just wow.
Then it was a 10 minutes of taxiing to get us to the gate.
I was panicking. My flight was already boarding. Not only that, there was a notice on my Delta app that they were going to depart 5 mintues EARLY. I guess they were trying to get out before the next round of weahter?
I anxiously asked the attendants as I was exiting the plane as to which terminal we were in.
We gated at D-21 and my Minneapolis flight was departing out of D36. I RAN! It was NOT PRETTY!
It was just like in the movies ….I see them about to close the door….I hold out my ticket, the guy scans it with the reader gun and I am sprinting and panting down the jet bridge.
But I made it. No extra time for the restroom. No time to grab breakfast. Just go.
From there it was fine…decent layover in Minneapolis (got something to eat) boarded on time…and other than the fact that my glasses were about to fog with ice from the cold on the plane, we got to Boise in fine time.
Only my luggage….didn’t. I didn’t htink it would.
I went to the little baggage claim office and took my baggage ID number to the desk and the lady was SO nice…she looked it up, found that it was on the “next” flight” and would arrive in 40 mionutes or so.
So Alicia, Scott and I headed out for a late lunch, enjoyed some time catching up, came back for my suitcase which had just come down the chute, and off we went to come up here to Garden Valley where they were staying for dinner, a walk around the garden, and heading back down to Nampa.
My stay at the airport hotel the night before is another story I’d rather forget. So. Suffice it to say that I was in bed at 8>30pm and slept through to 6am Idaho time which is 8am home time.
Today….we head back to the airport to pick up mom’s sisters. I usually come a day ahead to stay the night at my Brother’s house for a one day visit first, but this year they are having construction done on their house and that just wasn’t going to work. But the tickets were bought and unchangeable so….we are back to the airport today.
I don’t know if I will have much time for blogging when everyone gets here – but I wanted to touch base and say hellp, share the lovely quilts and let you know I made it in one piece.
