Day On The Run –

Day On The Run -
Day On The Run -
We’ve had this issue with Lola before.
I think it was a couple of years ago while I was on all of the make up back-to-back international trips post Covid.
There was a whole month where I went from Egypt strait to Ireland and did two consecutive Ireland tours to get all of those delayed trips in.
At any rate – Lola developed an intestinal blockage and Hubster Dave had to rush her to the emergency vet.
We’ve been on high guard watching for signs of another occurrence ever since.
Yesterday  morning she was showing those signs. (Really gross, won’t get into it) so I called the vet to get her in right away.
Of course. It was a Friday.  The weekend was coming on.  She had to go!
Her appointment was at 11:50am, and it’s an hour drive to get there.
She is okay. And yes, I should have my own reserved parking spot at the vet after all we’ve gone through in the past several months. But she is okay.
Blockage cleared, all of her food is fine.  Recommended a water fountain for her to encourage her to drink more water.  It’s on order.
Got some meds to help.  An antibiotic shot because she was running a fever.  Anti-inflammatory because she needed one after all of that.
And at 16 we’ve had to up her MiraLAX to 1/4 tsp per day instead of 1/8 teaspoon to help with hairball impaction.

And last evening…
I found her nestled into the tent of my Hello, Gretchen quilt when I was hoping to get the hanging sleeve stitched down!

She was being extremely cute and very vocal/chirpy.  Of course when I tried to get her to chirp on camera, she wasn’t having anything to do with it.
I’m just so glad she is okay.
I drove her home from the vet, got her settled and then returned to the retreat to see what the ladies had gotten up to.

Hand quilting in the Hen Den!
Day On The Run -
There is nothing like the texture of hand quilting!  If it weren’t for wanting to finish up the eternal hexie quilt I’d have something in my hoop to hand quilt right now.  It’s the ultimate in relaxation satisfaction!
Day On The Run -
This is very fun and colorful!

If you are interested in travel, and in making Tara’s Sovereignty quilt – join her on her Moroccan Retreat in Marrakech
Having just returned from Marrakech in January myself, I can’t recommend this location highly enough. It’s fabulous.  I hope I get to go back some day.
I wish I could go, but September has us in India! And I can’t wait for that adventure as well. Are you coming with me? I hope so!
Day On The Run -
Pam got her luscious string quilt top together!
Day On The Run -
Is this a Dear Jane block I spy in lovely green and white grunge?

Day On The Run -
With Lola settled at home, and the quilty ladies all fine and dandy I was able to sit down, cool my jets, and piece two more  geesey/stringy blocks.
I am so happy I took a couple of days to empty out those two bins of random scraps and make them more accessible and useable this week!  Was it fun? No.  Does it help me be more productive in the future?  YES!

Day On The Run -
They look so good trimmed and de-papered!
I get this question a lot.  “Do you leave the papers in when joining blocks together?”
It makes it really hard to match points if you leave the paper in, and then once seams cross seams it makes it absolutely heinous to remove paper from the seam allowances.
Once the unit is pieced and trimmed the paper has has done its job and it is easier to remove BEFORE sewing unit to unit.  That’s my preferred method.
Today?  We are headed to the park in search of ponies along the Appalachian Trail! (Which was delayed a day due to Lola’s trip to the vet.)
How about you? What’s up for your weekend?
