A Little Bit Hexie, And A Lot Tulalou!
I’m putting something pretty here because what is at the bottom of this post is NOT so pretty.
I finished my two side hexie borders!
I didn’t count how many hexies are in each border – numbers have a way of influencing me in not a good way and make me feel like something is too much work. I just sew. And when it’s done it’s done.
Piece counts don’t matter!
I realized that I couldn’t fully figure out what was going to happen with the top and bottom borders until I had at least ONE of the side borders on, so I set right in to attaching it.
As soon as each hexie is completely surrounded by other hexies I remove the papers – which is a good thing. I’ve now got enough papers to reuse them in starting the top and bottom borders.
They are good for about 4 times before they are too flimsy to hold their shape well.
This is were we were the other evening. I’m a bit further now. But this is where things get icky, so scroll on past if you need to.
I arrived at the Inn Thursday morning to find that Tula’s eye was huge, oozing and glued shut.
I called the emergency vet and drove an hour to get her in.
They had to sedate her to flush the eye and see what was going on.
She’d developed an abscess somehow – maybe from a bite, or maybe by getting something in her eye. We don’t know.
I brought her home with meds and she is now holed up in the QPO studio because I can’t let her outside and I can’t bring her home here. We are already juggling fractious cats and I can’t have her in that situation.
Thursday afternoon.
Yesterday morning – a bit better.
She is still hiding in hard to reach corners and I don’t blame her. She hurts, this is a new place, it’s not outside, she’s lost her freedom and she is scared.
I’m giving her pain meds and eye drops on schedule. We have another appointment on Monday to see how she is doing.
We don’t know if we can save the eye. I am hoping so. I’m headed over right now for another round of meds and to stay with her through the day, just leaving her there to sleep at night.
She is eating – a little. Not like usual.
I’m super worried about her.
I did finish the last of the X-Plus blocks with dark backgrounds and I think I know what I want to do next – I’m going to sash them with a double sashing with four-patch cornerstones.
It’s going to be simply traditional and I think it works for all of these scrappy blocks.
I need some sunshine so I am thinking a soft yellow and a white.
Anyway – if you were contacting me about blocks turned wrong in yesterday’s Lupine & Laughter Reveal – there was a story that went with that wrong block that I forgot why I took those wrong photos in the first place.
But at this point, I don’t care. It is what it is. Yes, the block was fixed and corrected and it’s in the quilt correct. Please don’t email me about the wrong corner in the block in yesterday’s clue. I don’t care.
It just seems so insignificant with everything else that has been going on in my life over the past 3 months.
Sometimes we just have to let it go.
Quiltville Quote of the Day –
If you find yourself wallowing, MOVE ON before it sucks you under!
We all go through things, but the objective is to GO THROUGH, not take up residency.
Leave your baggage behind, and GO FORWARD, even if it is just baby steps.
I love the simplicity of this simple 36-patch quilt. It has all the comforting feels.

Some simple sewing is in order.
Have a good weekend, everyone –
