We’ve owned our little cabin on the mountain for 8 years now.
I’m not sure how that is possible – but there it is. 8 years.
One of the things I wanted to do from the time we first saw the place was to change the color of the white stucco of the bottom level.  It just always looked too stark, and just not right –
But in all honesty it was so far down the to-do list that it just didn’t seem important.
But this spring – we are making those changes happen!
You can see the difference in the garage door wall (original) and the first coat of “Koala” (Yes that’s the color! And apropos after my recent trip to Australia.) on the main wall.

One coat done – waiting for the second.
It’s been a process which also required the chipping back of the old stucco from where it was pulling away from the cinderblock base.
Then new stucco had to be applied and it had to dry – and we’ve had so much rain.
Finally – we are able to get this done.

Second coat on.
Hahahaha! I see Lola in the window – there is also a treadle in the window with a mini quilt on the breadbox style cover.
This color looks warmer and more in keeping with the nature around us -and it doesn’t stand out so much against the stone walkway.
My thanks go to son Jeff who has been so helpful over the past month since Dave’s hand surgery – he is still in a cast, but that should come off in another couple of weeks and then physical therapy can begin.

I spent most of yesterday at my desk getting Dogwood Daze ready for Friday’s release and gift-away.  It’s getting there! It’s happening!

I barely took a break from my big desk before it was time for me to head out.

But LOOK!!
One glance at the side yard at the inn showed me that the apple trees are very much in bloom!  I’m so excited.  The bees are happy too.
And since it is Wednesday, guess what time it is?

They spent a year and a half renovating a historic church building into a storefront open to the public..
Summit St Shop carries quilting fabric, of course – but also decor, gifts and more!
And yes, you can order online and there is free shipping on orders over $75.00 within the USA.
Thanks, everyone – for participating, and thanks to Summit St. Shop for offering this Gift-Away!
Today?  Well, so many of my yearly appointments have been scheduled for this week because I don’t have a retreat group staying over Easter.
Today it’s bloodwork and a pap.  Ugh.  But better to be on top of things.
Tomorrow afternoon it’s a annual visit with my retinal specialist about my macular issues.  That’s also an UGH because they dilate my eyes and I hate that. However, I need to be on top of that so I can be sure that I can still see to quilt – so…..we just do all the things we have to do, right?
I likely won’t be doing anything but evening sewing until Friday – and that pattern needs to be uploaded and ready to go by the time I leave for the eye doc tomorrow or I won’t be able to see a computer screen.
Isn’t aging just a wonderful process?

Quiltville Quote of the Day –

Some lifelong habits are just too hard to break.
Keep it up and let it bother everyone else!
