Some Of This Happened…

Some Of This Happened...
I found some sewing time!
It’s been an impossibility since Thanksgiving, and here we are nearly half-way through December already.
I was finally able to sit at my machine, put something binge-able on the telly and just put the pieces through.
The rhythm and hum of the machine joining squares to triangles, making blocks come together.
I highly recommend it!

Yes, beiges, creams and whites – some dating all the way back to the 1980s are in here.  Each block is a catalogue of fabrics that have been in my stash since the 1900s. LOL.

Do you see the text print 2nd row up from the bottom, 2nd square in?  I have an anonymous person to thank for sending me a FQ to include in this quilt.

It’s all about hot cocoa and I’ve included it in several places.  Thank you thank you tahnk you!

I’m still thinking on a name for this one – but there is one thing I can guarantee – it will not be named after food. LOL!  But it will come to me, and I have time as this is one I am planning to hand quilt.

It will take months – so this one will likely not be a pattern release until fall.  But never fear – if you look at the top photo again, you’ll see a bit of Huka Falls peeking out.  I had time to draw up some graphics for that one, and next week Huka Falls is up o deck for pattern writing to be released in January.

I used nearly ALL of my aqua strings in Huka Falls, which is why I put out a cry asking you for a strip or two if you are so willing.  Click back to Thursday’s Post for more info.

I thought I would throw in a bit more about our time in London.  We made a stop at St Paul’s Cathedral!

Some Of This Happened...
Due to the difficulty of bus parking, we came up the back of the cathedral and up the side.
One of the things I love about London in December?  The trees still have golden leaves.  They haven’t all fallen yet.

Sent this photo to dad’s digital picture frame!

The golden foliage was so beautiful!

And yes…coming up the walk I was humming to myself “Feed the birds, tuppence a bag….”

Some Of This Happened...
The colors of golden leaves against the different greys of the cathedral had me thinking of the colors of Moonflower. We gathered with our group to listen to our London guide tell us a bit of the history of this iconic site.

Loved this little stop on our tour!

And from the front, across the street.
A couple of folks in our group were lucky enough to score tickets to hear Handel’s Messiah being performed inside St. Paul’s on one of our “free” evenings in London.  They took the tube over and said it was an amazing performance.  Lucky ducks!

Click to view All My Tours and join me in my 2025 line up to discovering the crafts, culture and cuisine of Iceland in June, a celebration of quilting & textiles in France, Germany & Switzerland in September, and the treasures of a Bavarian/Austrian Christmas in December.

In January of 2026 we’ll be somewhere warm with an exclusive arts & crafts experience in Morocco followed by the culture, crafts and traditions of Romania in June. September 2026 has us exploring all the quilting inspirations of India.

I am so excited about this whole lineup over the next couple of years and I hope you’ll join me.

Space is limited, and there is an early booking discount if you reserve your spot before Jan 1, 2025. Don’t miss out!

So what’s the weekend plan?  I am headed over to Wytheville with a friend to check out the Holiday craft fare.  Yes, the hubsters are coming.  Which should prove interesting as I am bound and determined to make a quilt shop stop as well.

In consolation, I have mentioned that I am good if they also want to stop at Rural King.  LOL!
The red/neutral quilt top will likely not begin to be sewn together until tomorrow.  I have the batting I need and hopefully will see it assembled and machine basted so I can start the hand quilting within the next week.
What’s on your list for this weekend?
